[Coverage] SuperGT 2008 - Sepang Malaysia
July 3, 2008
[RIDES] S2KMUGEN

Nine in the morning at Texas World Speedway and the air is crisp. There is a wide variety of cars ranging from BMW M5’s, Corvette’s, Mazda Miata’s, Porsche’s, Cobra’s, and even a Ford Probe. But there is something different this track day. A White Dragon enters the bay for the first time. Most people blow it off like it’s just there to sit and look pretty, but no, not this car. To everyone’s amazement the owner gets out and starts to put painters tape on the front end of this white S2000. “Isn’t that car too pretty and ‘done up’ to be on a track?” you ask. “Why does it have all this fancy J’s Racing replica vinyl? Aren’t race cars supposed to be ugly?” People stare. Just when they are about to go up to the car to see if it’s properly equipped to tackle today’s 2.9 mile Road Course. Too late. The intercom yells “yellow group, 15 min to staging, yellow group, 15 to staging.” You head back over to your car wondering if it’s a ghost that you’ve seen. No. Surely it can’t be that a show car will ever be on a track. You exit the bay, take a left, then enter into Pit Lane. In front you see the white dragon already staged in its designated area. Ready to go. Prepared for battle.
