Thinking about putting up my Sony gear for sale and making the move to the darkside (Canon/Nikon). I shoot sports (indoors and out) and portraits. So what models would you guys recommend?
So far I am looking at new or used: Nikon D300, D300s, or D700 Canon 60D, 7D, 5D MkII I honestly don't need video but, it seems they all have that. Budget for body: $1500 or so. Lenses I am not sure yet... Or keep my Sony A200 and upgrade to an A580,A700 or FF A850/900 |

for sports and portraits the best would be a d700. but those are about $2000 used. next would be either d300 or 7d |

Lens Recommendation
I'll be shooting a nighttime outdoor event for a friend and I was going to rent a lens that would take great party photos. I've been looking at information for the best type of "nightclub" lens that does great in lowlight situations. I shoot with Canon, so I've been seeing a lot of info for the sigma 30mm and the Canon 24mm. I also considered a very wide lens, like the Canon 14mm but wasn't sure how that would look.
I was wanting the shots to look more like Merlin Bronques' photos. Does anyone have any additional information on these lenses of which would be the best to choose? Also, with the above listed lenses ranging from 1.8 to 2.8, I'm assuming a flash would not be necessary? |

Is there a big enough difference that would warrant going for a NEX-5 over a NEX-3? Besides 1080i vs 720p video recording, and a slimmer/lighter body, are they basically the same? Anybody have any insight?

If you're comfortable buying used I suggest getting:
Canon XTi: If you want to buy new: If you want to buy something else I also suggest the Nikon D40, you can buy it used/refurbished for under 500 |

I just picked up a Sony Alpha Nex C3K and have taken a few photos with it. I gotta say this is one real nice AP&S. I just turned it on and took these, no post processing or tripod. Everything set to auto.

So I was in the market for a point and shoot but figured I just spend the extra 900 dollars and get the new canon t4i with the 18mm-135mm lense kit lol. Hey why no one made a thread on the t4i or mentioned it here in this subforum? Guess yall are happy with your nikons or t3i? Anyway I'm a noob to the dslr world and have to get through newegg but the t4i kit I want is on backorder until july. I might change my mind and not get it at all but will at least learn a thing or two.

I think I'm ready to finally purchase a 5D mark ii.
I wanted to check if any of the photographers on here know of any hookups on them through Canon, Amazon, or other sellers. #sorryforbeingcheap |
