check engine light issue

so i have a friend with a 96 integra, and his check engine light will not turn on. the car has a p75 ecu, the car runs a little rough because the map sensor is not plugged in, and when we scanned the car, codes DID show up, but nothing on the dash. i checked the bulbs and one of them was burned so i switched them around hoping that would fix the issue and it still has not. nothing happens when i turn the car on. no cel or maint req. before i go to crank it over.

what do you think could be the cause of this??

you mean the electrical connections on the back of the cluster, not where the connectors plug into the cluster, but the other brass like looking ones?

the clip thats supposed to go in between these two blue ones is missing. which leads me to believe the cluster is a gsr cluster. but would that affect the performance or the mechanical aspect of the cluster if that plug is not there?

Have you tried "jumping" that two wire service plug to see if it will flash the codes then? Not sure if it will do anything since the light doesn't come on when you turn the key to the "on" position but it wouldn't hurt. Should be a blue colored plug under the dash on the passenger side. Jump it with a paper clip and see if it starts flashing the codes.

it actually has both pluggs. obd2 DLC and that other blue service plug to retrieve codes via CEL. most hondas have them till 2001 on some cars.

You are absolutely correct....even my 01 teg had it. If you've never used that blue service plug before, look up under there and you'll see it plugged into a green rubber piece. It's only holding it there in place so pull it out and jump it with a paper clip or small guage wire. If that doesn't do anything you might wanna look at getting those wires cleaned up and straightened out...looks like a mess. Could possibly be that a piece of the copper on the backside of the cluster where the CEL bulb makes connection got burnt somehow. You wouldn't need to replace the whole cluster, only that thin green computer board looking thing(not sure on its proper name) on the back of the cluster.

That was not my cluster that was just a reference picture to show the clip that was missing in the middle, the obd port somehow was relocated to under the pass side of the dash, the wiring looks OEM and is still wrapped. But I have no clue what it is that is causing the cluster to do that. I even tried to do the cel plug and still nothing. I might just pull the dam dash and see what I can find. I'm also looking into why the fuck my sunroof does not work at all as well.
