Underbelly

If you haven't heard about this place, you have been living under a rock.

This is former Catalan (defunct, now Coppa) Chef Chris Shepherd's new restaurant. In the former Chance's space on Westheimer, next door to Hay Merchant.

I went yesterday for lunch...and it was great!
I was so busy eating that I took no pictures. Sorry!
Really cool community tables that ran through the entire restaurant in front of the line.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has gone and what they thought. If you haven't, definitely worth making a trip.

Actually, one of the chefs there did work for The Modular...dont know which one. Read that on Eater.
They are opening a restaurant soon...location to be determined.

Beet + Creme fraiche + Lamb (I think) - great
Biscuits + Rabbit - Amazing
Dumplings - great flavor, but the dumplings had a firmer texture than I would prefer
Dont remember the name, but it was a pork sandwich, delicious.

doubt all of the items will be the same for the night menu...but excited to see your pics.

My thoughts on your thread...

Modular sucks.
Eatsie boys are opening up a store front, not a restaurant, they're alright but half of their shit is other peoples work and mommy and daddy's money.
Coppa is awesome.
Underbelly is alright, I went Friday night, had the ribeye, fava beans, goat cheese thing, and the lamb dumpling whatever.

Modular does suck. It's the same menu for fucking months now, $10 crab sandwich, $8 boar hot dog, $5 ore-ida supermarket fries. He needs to change the shit up or get more creative. Probably one of the worst trucks in the montrose area.

I've tried everything. The lobster with risotto, the enchiladas he did a few weeks ago, the bone marrow... It's all just okay. I just think they're are better trucks out there that would do better in that spot.

Look at modulars menu and then look at eatsi or stEATS... It'll explain it all.
