GPU upgrade
I'm in the market for a new GPU. My current Geforce 9600GT isn't cutting the mustard anymore.
Need some feedback on these if anyone has any...Newegg has good reviews. GPU1: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814162079 GPU2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130625 GPU3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125410 *i shouldn't need to upgrade mobo or processor or PS to run these, correct? as long as they are PCI-E 2.0 i should be good, correct? current specs : Asus P5E mobo Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe) LGA775 2.66GHz 4GB DDR2-800 (Crucial) Supreme HD Audio SFX 750W Thermaltake PS *(i excluded the GPU) yes i know, i built this rig back in 08.

plain and simple

This is what I have:
[Display] Operating System: Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit (Service Pack 1) DirectX version: 11.0 GPU processor: GeForce GTX 550 Ti Driver version: 285.62 DirectX support: 11 CUDA Cores: 192 Core clock: 951 MHz Shader clock: 1903 MHz Memory clock: 2178 MHz (4356 MHz data rate) Memory interface: 192-bit Total available graphics memory: 4095 MB Dedicated video memory: 1024 MB GDDR5 System video memory: 0 MB Shared system memory: 3071 MB Video BIOS version: 70.26.3A.00.50 IRQ: 16 Bus: PCI Express x16 Gen2 It runs D3 good at max settings with 1600x900 resolution. I say it runs the game at 90% quality. The other 10% there is a drop of fps. |

Both of the cards I listed are under $150, I'd go for the superclocked one I posted spec wise it is better than the one listed above.

EVGA all the way. I've always paid a small premium for their cards just b/c of the customer service. If you'd ever had to contact them for a replace or warranty, you know what i'm talking about.

I'd say the 550ti superclock is faster than a 560ti but maybe not a 560ti superclock either way you wouldn't notice the difference you would only really see it through benchmark scores.

If the 560 is in his price range then sure but more importantly we need to know what kind of games he will be playing.
